I just don't think what the press have done to Q Manivannan MSP has much to do with protecting survivors or resisting rape culture in the same week as the same publications shouted the praises of Rod Liddle.
I am horrified that my comments were selectively edited in order to mislead people and misrepresent me, but I also accept that my language was abstract in the first place and for that I take full responsibility and am so sorry.

I just cannot understand an interpretation of this interview that sees it as making light of rape or excusing it. Making out that this is what Manivannan is arguing for strikes me as exceptionally reckless.

The original clip posted on X excludes the woman saying “it’s a range of things that is also rape” and Manivannan saying “none of which is less or more worse” - and instead just includes them saying “it’s a spectrum”. Extremely misleading. Misinformation really.
