The handwriting is thought to be by Robert Benson Bowman (1808-1882), who was a bookseller and an amateur botanist.
If you zoom into each image, you can read the species names - a fantastic overlay of geology and taxonomy.

Paper maps are great but they can soon go out of date. With online subscriptions you always have the most up to date version.
Here's a good example of when online maps are better.
Route choice from A to B would be much easier with the updated map!

99% of time I'll be looking ahead, only 1% will be mapreading, checking heart rate, mileage etc. So I won't really notice it.
Opticians were so good, gave me endless free trials to get right prescription. Ended up all summer with free contacts. The toroidal one was like having normal eyes back. 😁
