Mariticide.
It also literally used to mean “Meemaw fed Peepaw rhubarb leaf pie and everybody looked the other way.” I think it was @karnythia.blacksky.app who did a brilliant thread on this one day. Mariticide rates dropped quite sharply after no-fault divorce.
I am once again begging people to understand that “women used to stay married” is not the same thing as “women used to be happy.” Usually it actually means “women used to have no money, no legal protection, no right to their own children, and a church lady judging them from three pews away.”

My hot take is that GPS has reduced the rate of mariticide.
All the while said husband in the midst of yelling is driving the car with his knee, while both hands are on the map, pointing furiously, while the vehicle veers into the other lane and the children learn for the first time that they are, in fact, mortal as they see the car edge closer to a pickup.

The South Carolina court decision vacating Murdaugh’s convictions was a segue to bring up a “lighter subject” — my wife’s obsession with podcasts about wives killing their husbands - aka mariticide. I’ve not made it a point of contention between us.
