My husband #markcolvin loved ’Moomintroll’
Tove Jansson's (1957) illustration from her book 'Moominland Midwinter'. Moomintroll, unlike his family who hibernate, decides to stay up through the harsh winter. It is a tale of endurance, acceptance and learning to live with the discomfort of uncertainty #WomensArt

Peter was a very good friend of #MarkColvin

Envious of my husband #markcolvin @colvinius for having died in 2017. It didn’t feel like it but it was a good move. Local and global politics are the worst they’ve been in my long life. Hard to feel positive about anything

Agree wholeheartedly and so did #markcolvin and he wasnt an old hippy, just smart

Went to #ABC for first time since #Marks (#markcolvin) hearse drove past on the way to his funeral. Security is so tight and so different now that they wouldnt let me into the foyer, so I just sat there and cried remembering the past when I would pick him up with Jumble.

So good to hear #NickBryant’s voice on ABC RN Saturday Extra. #MarkColvin loved him

Disgusting. If #markcolvin had a grave he’d be rolling in it

Xmas 84 Versailles #markcolvin #andrewolle and Netty and #nickolle #samolle #NicMcKenzie #deepseaarcase in pushchair, we were all happy then

In the introduction to Conversations on RN every day there is a tiny grab of #MarkColvin saying of something, “the system was corrupt to its very core” and how apt for so many systems we could name today. Thank you editor for that little bit of joy for me.

This story written by #PeterHoysted (good friend of Mark Colvin) made #MarkColvin laugh so much. He thought it would make a great movie. We spent hours casting this movie, yet to be made.

Do you think #markcolvin would have ignored this?
August 10, 2026 at 3:30 PM
No, #MarkColvin would not have ignored this. There are times when I'm reading of Israel's murder of journalists that Mark comes to mind, with a mix of emotions: anguish at Israel's atrocities, fond respect for Mark, his principles and his work. Then sadness he's no longer with us. 😔 #journalism

#markcolvin was dead then but would have made a fuss about it somehow.

Agree wholeheartedly. Hard for journos who have to work harder but the smart ones, like #MarkColvin, managed

My husband agreed with you. My millenial son has just discovered the joy of listening to ABC Australia Radio National am station. His father #MarkColvin ran a current affairs show #PM on this channel for twenty years. It was set in the car and when he turned ignition son would hear it. Yay

My late husband, #markcolvin was an eminent longstanding foreign corro and broadcaster for ABC Australia for 40 years. He died in 2017. If he were alive he would have been doing everything in his power to bring these stories to public attention. He deferred to no one.

I wish, but I will go to Reykjavik before I die. I was very envious when my husband @colvinius #markcolvin covered the Gorbachev/Reagan Summit in the 80’s for ABC Australia. I did get a memorial Icelandic jumper which cannot ever be worn in Australia. So hot right now.

Good news. I loved the book when I was young then saw the marvellous Merchant Ivory film in 1985 when I was quite grown up and living with my tiny child and adorable #markcolvin in Brussells. We had a bedroom with a view of a forest.

Thousands of Australians would have paid to have #markcolvin read #DavidLodge or #MalcolmBradbury novels to them in bed.

Love to Bob. Very glad to have met him. #MarkColvin who didn’t like politicians much admired Bob. Keep up the good work you two xxxx

Agree. Btw #Markcolvin was happy to grab any opportunity he could to ask “is a fork out of the question?” Will be listening to you on RN on Saturday at 11.

Me too. Philip was wonderful and I miss his voice and humor. David Marr is terrific. He used to share an office at 4 Corners with #markcolvin @colvinius and Mark was very fond of him x

Oh goodie will listen. @arusbridger.bsky.social wish husband #markcolvin was here to see this. I’m being retraumatised but also gleeful when some bastard says “its not happening”. See you in court! #davidtennant looks like both you and #nickdavies but I love, love #tobyjones and want to kiss him.
