Lovely walk at Martin Down NNR this morning always lots to see & hear. Burnt orchids just starting to come up , good to have plenty of lesser whitethroat in full song and a startled pair of grey partridge flying off ! #martindown #farmcluster

When I was out on Martin Down earlier in the week, the Gorse seed heads started loudly popping open in the heat.
I knew then that it was too late in the morning to see a basking Adder....
An Adder always like to bask with thorns at it's back & the early morning sun at its front.

Lovely walk #martindown . Heard turtle dove , fantastic but we need to hear more ! Dark green fritillary, grass snake , cuckoo and greater butterfly orchid and of course so much more .

Have relatives who live near Martindown. Very beautiful. Good to hear there is a raven to see. Pasque flowers and stoats or weasels on my last visit. And beautiful weather.
