I think the analysis of people like Howards Zinn is sort of a victim of its own success: when he was writing a materialist class-first perspective *was* rarer. But now we have if anything overcorrected and now people are always looking for the hidden materialist stake & underrating sincere ideolog

is this a popularist argument or a materialist argument? because if it is a populist argument, it fails because fracking is direly unpopular in the UK, and if it is a materialist argument, then the lack of any substantial reserves would seem to contradict it.
