If you put cotton next to it, the cotton will burn,
but its light has become completely mixed
with the sun.

That candlelight you can't find is what’s left of a dervish.

Aaaaand for day 6, of #100dayproject I present a Rumí quote which I penciled onto a page from a “Beautiful Paper Birds” craft kit:
On a page which has a cutout diagram for building a paper cardinal, there is handwritten a Rumí quote from the Mathnawi: “My soul’s a furnace, it’s happy with fire./It’s enough for a furnace to be a house of fire./For love, like for a furnace, there’s always something to burn—/If you don’t see this, you are not a furnace.”

Henry Corbin, in his book "Alone with the Alone, Creative Imagination in the Sufism of Ibn Arabi" (New Jersey: Princeton University Press, 1998, p.170 & 172) writes: “If the mystic thus came to exemplify the Image of the Creative Feminine, we understand how Maryam could become its prototype and how, in one of the finest pages of his Mathnawi, Jalaluddin Rumi could substitute her for the mystic. The episode of the Annunciation now becomes one of the symbols verifying the maxim that he who knows himself knows his Lord: Essentially it is the ‘sophianity’ of the mystic’s being (typified by Maryam) which conditions his vision of the Angel, that is, which defines his capacity for theophanic vision, his capacity for the vision of a form in which the invisible and the sensible are conjoined, or symbolize one another [...] Because it is impossible to prove God, there is no other answer than to ‘make oneself capable of God.’ Indeed, as Jalaluddin Rumi also says, each of our eternal individualities is a word, a divine Word, emitted by the Breath of Divine Compassion. When this Word penetrates the mystic’s heart (as it penetrates Maryam through the Angel’s Breath), that is, when the ‘secret of his Lord’ unfolds to his consciousness, when divine inspiration invests his heart and soul, ‘his nature is such that there is born within him a spiritual Child (walad ma`nawī) having the breath of Christ which resuscitates the dead’.”
