Most mental health issues are not understood in terms of direct causal factors. But there is a clear correlatin between medcial transition and bad mental health outcomes.
If a young person asks "will my mental health improve after medicaltion/surgery" this study suggest the answer is "no, worse".

Doctors visit went well today. I weighed 209 last year, but today I weighed 206. I even spoke up to get some meds for a medcial problem that flared up again.
