Ngl a lot of the lab leak theory seems to rely on this idea that Wuhan is a tiny biological sciences research post akin to Los Alamos or Oak Ridge and not a sprawling megacity on roughly the same scale as Chicago or London

HK universities did well b/c of strong academic freedom. Now that this is gone, what is their comparative advantage vis-a-vis PKU, Tsinghua or Zhejiang U?
It was always clear this "silicon valley" of HK would fail, but the university megacity route isn't going to work either. What a disaster.

I hear you. We had the best roads in Canada. Until the Conservatives decided to make our suburban city a part of Toronto as a megacity. Our roads suck, our infrastructure is awful, and a bunch of white guys got richer. I hate the right. 🤬

Very kind of @macsquirelera.bsky.social to say this. But I really disagree. Modal splits aren't that different, but we have a megacity and Germany does not.
I think germany is better at rural lines but the suburban lines are around london are unmatched even in NRW which has a similar population to greater london (no central jobs hub but still)

Brad indeed had more votes than most winning candidates in the Megacity era, but not all elections are equally contested. 2003, 2010, 2014, and 2023 saw multiple serious candidates split the vote. As for 2026, I'm leaning into the idea that the supposed mood of this election was social media hype.
