I wouldn't say that. I live in the city of Mempis, and in the last couple of years, I've only once seen someone carrying who isn't a LEO. It might be different out in the rural areas. Of course, people might leave their loaded firearms unattended in parked cars, because that's legal, too.

It was not a “race riot.” It was a police riot. All but two people murdered were Black, several Black women were raped, all with the encouragement of the white police. The US Army commander stationed near Memphis refused to dispatch forces to protect the families of Black soldiers in his charge.
