Professor Rashid Khalidi has described the New York Times as "the gray lady," the "newspaper of record," and, when it comes to the the Middle East, a "thoroughly unreliable and extremely noxious agent".
He's right, except this is true in almost all respects and not just MENA.

A lot of people seem to have internalized Republican critiques that the New York Times is liberal. It is center-right. It speaks for a particular definition of the Establishment. I hope this reduces your cognitive dissonance.
