The road from red carpet nudity stunt to swastika merchandizing to divorce is predictably short.
Kanye West and Bianca Censori have split and are heading for divorce, TMZ reports.

Star Wars has *always* had an eye towards merchandizing, but it's gone from "monetizing the heck out of your 2 hour pulp/western/samurai/scifi pastiche" to a franchise that's an ouroboros of its own iconography, self-cannibalizing its past in a desperate bid at maintaining cultural relevance

I know we all get what this really is. Let me throw out two things.

One, research on merchandising political swag.

A studio set show with 10 total actors and 50 crew and a long merchandizing history suddenly doesn’t make money, something is super fishy here
"Sesame Street doesn't make any money" I confidently type while cleaning up 3 plush Elmos, 1 plush Abby, 1 plus Count, 13 plastic figurines of Big Bird and Cookie Monster and 23 books starring Grover, Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, Abby and Elmo and a bunch of characters my 2 year old can identify.

solves a lot of problems at once:

* new era, no Skywalkers

* can lean into adorable Mission/Zaalbaar friendship

* built in hype cycle from game fans

* merchandizing, Revan's outfit is one of the most iconic in the franchise

Batman is a billionaire because Wayne Corp owns the Justice League merchandizing rights, otherwise he'd actually be a centi-millionaire.

LOL at the notion Disney should put on its board a dude who complains that it made Black Panther, a movie that of course printed money at the box office (and its sequel easily breezed into profitability) and which continues to give Disney a gigantic money spigot via merchandizing.

actually insanely infuriating watching suits invest zero dollars into merchandizing what has been a merchandizing powerhouse for 50 years and then going "not making money, kill it"

AGAIN

Winning these does NOT include commercial merchandizing! So please keep that in mind

Don't think I've ever seen darker merchandizing than an alcoholic who drank himself into a coma and has alcohol induced heart damage selling his own line of spirits. A collection of Kurt Cobain branded rifles would be close. Nirvana Armory: "Load Up On Guns, Bring Your Friends!"

I never watched EVA I dunno if the constant crossovers are disrespectful to the legacy or whatever or if EVA fans are used to the merchandizing lol

Wrapping presents is not really in my skill set. I took “retail merchandizing” in high school and was tested on gift wrap, so I understand the theory of the case, but I lack the requisite execution skills. Sorry world.

I always thought it was gross how Marvel tried to decouple Hydra from the Nazis seemingly for the sake of merchandizing...

She got rich and famous telling pregnant people not to worry about drinking, I'm shocked she didn't start her merchandizing with a prenatally-branded wine label
Emily Oster told parents kids faced little risk from COVID. Not only has the disease been a leading cause of death, but an estimated 5.8 million kids suffer long COVID.

Oster said schools wouldn’t be hotbeds of COVID transmission. That wasn’t true either.

Well, now she has a clothing line.
An economist walks into a fashion website
Brown University's Emily Oster is probably the first economist with a capsule clothing collection.
