Q: For the folks at Brotherwise, which metallic path/metalborn power was your favourite to work on? Bonus question: Which allomantic/feruchemical powers would you choose for yourself if you were a twinborn? LydiaSuen: Hi! Thank you for such a fun question! I loved designing Chromium Feruchemy! It was a blast designing talents that would make it feel like you were both highly tuned into fate/fortune and actively weaving it. If I were a Twinborn, I would probably be a Rioter/Spinner because I love hyping people up, and I adore the idea of being an active participant in fate. With that said, my favorite playtest character was a Soother/Connector sniper who could blend into almost any crowd. I went ahead and shared your question with our Invested Arts Specialist/Senior Designer, Ross Leiser since this is his area of expertise. Here's his answer: For Metalborn power, it's honestly difficult to narrow down. There are little details in just about everything that I adore. But if there's one I'm particularly proud of, I think I'd have to say Electrum Allomancy. That's a metal that gets screen time as a "poor man's counter to atium" in the novels, but seeing one's own future shadows instead of others' allows for some awesome differences in play. In particular, the Theoretical Exercise talent may be my favorite mechanic I've ever designed. For what I'd want IRL, so many of the Feruchemies would be incredible to have in real life - Brass for temperature regulation, Bronze to combat insomnia, Zinc to help get my overactive brain to turn off, Bendalloy to enjoy restaurants/parties to the max and then use the stored nutrition when I'm in hyper focus mode and miss meals. As for Allomancy, ngl Cadmium to make waiting periods go faster seems fantastic. Lyla Fujiwara: From an adventure perspective, Mistborn Legacy has an infamous NPC (from our GenCon games and playtesting) who's a Cadmium Allo/Steel Feru twinborn 👀

THE MISTBORN ADVENTURE GAME.

one of the best games I've played for social conflict. it leverages reputation and social status in a way that feels as visceral and high-stakes as combat. Alloy of Law is my favorite, but the base system is great.

I knew Mistborn arc two was a Western but I am legitimately worried that The Lost Metal is actually Lonesome Dove. Death of the Old West and its tired old lawmen. I think this isn't going to end well for our Metalborn tired old lawmen.

Steel Metallic Art (Coinshot): Optimisation Guide for the Cosmere RPG
Push on metal to launch yourself around the battlefield and hurl deadly metallic objects at your enemies. Steel allomancy allows characters in the Cosmere RPG's Mistborn setting to detect sources of metal and push those metals away from you, or, if the metal is larger than you, push you away from it. Mistings possessing steel allomancy are known as coinshots as they can launch metal projectiles away from them at deadly speeds and often use coins as a convenient metal source to do so.

It was never perfect, and was always getting worse as time went on, but this was my personal limit. This snuffed the little bit of hope that the writing wouldn't do something like this again. I could accept Earthen because they can be seen as something existing beside the old earthen and metalborn.

because like, metalborn are less “powerful” overall than surgebinders (from what i understand), so maybe getting extra talents would be less unbalanced than it might be on roshar? especially because of how hemalurgy is not widely understood, it would make sense to let it break things a tiny bit
