This is imo a big part of how hypermediated spectacular fascism is currently winning at metapolitics
It's obviously good that citizens with smartphones can create multiple records of these shootings and undercut propaganda and government lies about them. But I find it a little deranging that being an informed news consumer in 2026 requires watching what are essentially snuff videos in slow-mo.

the core mission of the fascist right's culture war metapolitics is to sow the idea that morality is a lie and ethics are just another predation strategy, that good people are mere status-seeking opportunists and bad people are refreshingly honest players in the inescapable, zero-sum game of power
The foundational lie of Trumpism (and I’m using that word precisely to refer to the ideology of intellectual types who defend him), from day one, has been the claim that good character is a “luxury belief” and nothing more than cover for the wealthy to punish the poor. This belief is evil.
I don’t think "Dem HR ladies" is labor coded or working class aligned. It comes from the same place everything that is terrible in the last two years has come from. The backlash to the Me Too and Black Lives Matter movements.

Metapolitics as political practice involves seeing culture as an upstream input to politics and intentionally reshaping culture to create a different political reality. The normalization of hypermediated depictions of violence against citizens, globally, is the vanguard of this fascist metapolitics.

Social media influence is fake. Exploiting outrage-driven algorithmic affordances (that don’t exist on bluesky) to grift from and manipulate audiences only ever supported a fascist metapolitics (cf Maly’s Metapolitics, Algorithms and Violence). That world is over now because you all broke it. ✌️
