Στην Ελλάδα έως τώρα έχουν βρεθεί απολιθώματα του είδους Metaxytherium medium μόνο στην Κρήτη, τη Γαύδο* και την Κεφαλονιά.
Sirenian (Metaxytherium medium)
In Greece, fossils of Metaxytherium medium have so far been found only on Crete, Gavdos*, and Kefalonia.

While I'm on it, heres two photos of the Austrian fossil dugon Metaxytherium at the Lower Austria Museum. Admittedly this is the Badenian (middle Miocene) Metaxytherium medium, which came after the species drawn by Josch in the Paratethys piece (Metaxytherium krahuletzi)

This time, here is the skull of the primitive manatee Potamosiren magdalenensis from Colombia. Named from a partial lower mandible and some molars, since then it has been recovered additional teeth and a piece of maxilla with upper molars, which was assigned to the dugong Metaxytherium.

Ahh, I forgot Life in the Ancient Seas. This gallery was finished in 1991. The epic 150-foot mural running down the north wall is by Ely Kish. New additions include Dolichorhynchops, Eurhinodelphis, Acrophoca, Spheniscus, Pelagornis, and Metaxytherium.
