My favorite archive, @mhs1791.bsky.social, took this great photograph of Theodore Parker’s letter books, which serve as a textual core of my book coming out next year. I’ve argued they’re among the richest collections for antebellum religion & abolition.

Documents are cool. Archives are the best.

🗃️ Glad to chat with @wgbh.org about Abigail Adams’ words & how to be a revolutionary in 1776 @mhs1791.bsky.social www.wgbh.org/news/local/2...
Abigail Adams implored her husband to ‘remember the ladies.’ Here’s what she meant.
While it’s been used as a rallying cry for women’s political rights, the famous phrase may have had more to do with tyranny at home.

I miss my father, but I'm a historian because of him, and we can mourn the present while delving into the grief of the past. I wrote a thing about a document I found @mhs1791.bsky.social and about how much the emotional weight of the journal meant to me--give it a read, if you're interested.
