#Blueskyart #michealhardingoils #oilportraitartist #oilpainting A Work In Progress, so got the underpainting on and let it dry, spent the day starting to build up the colours and redefine details, looking more like Sonny now, enjoyed today, a few more layers and my commission is well on its way.
A commission of a little boy Sonny. He is sitting on a tree stump with the sun shinning through the trees lighting up flowers and shrubbery. The stump is in long grass with a tree to Sonny's right. It's a Work in Progress so no where near finished but looking better after today.

#Blueskyart #womensart #urbanart #oilpaint #michealhardingoils So I have put the underpainting of acrylic on my new urban beauty series painting. One layer of oil on the sky too. It's from my reference photos. I love dance music and this little cloud reminded me of Little Fluffy Clouds by The Orb
A Work in Progress, the first layer is in acrylic as the under painting, I have put the first layer of oil on the sky only so far. Is the cloud lonely or is it independant?, just loved how it was the only cloud in a sea of blue sky with just the top of the 5 storey Victorian seaside guest houses. This will be a part of my Urban Beauty series of my local town here on the East Sussex coast in the UK.

So I have finished my most recent commission of artist Helen Bryant and her dogs, waiting for it to dry enough to varnish now then it will off to its new home, she loves it thankfully. Oil on canvas 30cms x 40cms.
Helen Bryant (artist) with henna red hair piled up on her head, dressed in a blue shirt with matching blue skirt, dark leggings with fern leaves on, sitting on a yellow sofa with her Labrador Margot sitting upright. Behind Helen is one of her wonderful ladies head paintings. Next to her right arm is a standard lamp and a doorway into her hallway. Below her sitting infront of the sofa is her black Spaniel with a white fleck on her chest, she's sitting on a red faded patterned carpet to her left is a small brown tiled table with a piece of paper and Helen's glasses. It's oil on canvas 30cms x 40cms and commissioned by Helen.

So after this dried I wasn't happy with it, painting small children is notoriously hard, the wrong mark can destroy a painting. So I tweaked it and now it is finished. Oil on Birchwood panel 23cms x 31cms.
Close up body shot of Sonny wearing a mustard yellow tee shirt with 5 crocodiles on and blue shorts. He has a small wafer in his hands and he is looking straight at you, the background is a blur of tree's and wood greenery. It's oil on Birchwood panel 23cms x 31cms. The full commissioned painting of Sonny, he is in the countryside sitting on a tree stump, he has a mustard yellow t-shirt on with 5 cartoon crocodiles on it, blue shorts, he has a wafer in his hands and no shoes on his feet. It's oil on Birchwood panel 23cms x 31cms

So all my visitors have gone home and today is the 1st time since the 31st June where I can actually paint!. This is a commission from a returning customer, the 4th painting of family members, Sonny is the youngest. Oil on Birchwood.
A commission from a returning customer, the 4th family member I have painted is of the youngest, Sonny sitting on a tree stump. His mum sent me 8-10 photos by the photographer ##jasmineogilvie she wanted the photo of him on the stump but his face in that photo wasn't as nice as a head shot in another photo, so with artistic license I have put a different face on the body!. Lots to do yet. An early shot of the head shoulders and waist of Sonny, making sure it's in proportion to his body, lots to put right but just getting the 1st layer of paint on.
