#micro-serials
We watched the BBC’s Look and Read serials at school, and then got to take turns playing the BBC Micro tie-in games! I remember Earth Warp, about an alien that wants to help save the planet from pollution and littering…

I saw this on tumblr and it absolutely makes sense that Murderbot would be a TV pirate.

basically i am relegated exclusively to the realm of short/micro fiction and serials this isn't actually bad because i think serials are awesome, but also i cant like plan ahead verymuch without addressing the audience and getting input. i tried a forum comic but it turns out 2005 was 20 years ago
Critical thing is that i write for attention not really in an abstract sense but in the way that i view it as a means and kind of socializing if i write too much with very little response i end up stopping talking to the empty room, this is ultimately bad, morally speaking

When you design a newsletter as a temporal product — a promise delivered at a cadence people can plan around — you turn passive subscribers into habitual returners.
Practically, that means building micro-serials, not mega-issues.

I used to blast long essays whenever inspiration hit and wondered why signups felt like one-night stands. Then I designed micro-serials—tiny, time-bound threads that resolve over 48–72 hours, with a predictable rhythm and one unresolved idea that invites reply or forward.

Think about TV serials: cliffhanger, anticipation, small payoffs that make viewers return. Think about Pavlov and habit loops: a consistent cue, tiny action, and an emotional reward. Think about spaced repetition in learning: micro-updates that change mental models over time.

Use the psychology of spacing, cliffhangers, and micro-tasks to turn passive opens into habitual, shared behavior.
Think of TV serials, not blog posts. End a short note with one unresolved idea that the next email will finish.

Not content buckets, but predictable micro-ceremonies that people perform because it makes them feel a little more like themselves.
Think Dickens publishing serials, commuters reading the same page on the train, or how a morning coffee becomes a signal to your brain that the day has started.
