I think they're designed to cope with extreme changes of direction, such as microbursts. Certainly any manoeuvre that can be initiated by the pilot will be catered for. IIRC the flight control software blocks any manoeuvres that can cause damage.

Automated locked down is a minefield.
The troposphere is a very unforgiving environment.
Microbursts, towering cumulus, windshear.

Most important decision a pilot makes is when *not* to fly. Second is how to keep plane from killing you.

Things that scare me about air travel:
- microbursts
- chronic low staffing of ATC
- terrible DOT management
- letting Boeing self-regulate & self-certify
- carbon emissions
- lack of viable alt travel options
- O'Hare
- driving to/from the airport

Only a very small percentage of chorus waves coincided with relativistic microbursts, which rapidly send high-energy electrons out of Earth’s outer radiation belt. The linked waves tended to be stronger. doi.org/gc3988
Earth's chorus waves show limited link to rapid electron loss from radiation belts
The Van Allen radiation belts are huge, doughnut-shaped regions of highly energetic charged particles trapped by Earth's magnetosphere.

Much prefer tonight’s view from a distance as opposed to yesterday evening’s microbursts, but only because being a homeowner with century old trees overhead is a nail biter.

It must have been great just a few hundred years ago, no floods, heatwaves, microbursts.

As much as I hate this admin, this crash looks like pilot error or just freak weather (you can get microbursts at that airport), they came in too fast and could not get the plane down in time and overshot the runway. The pilot should have realized this and did a touch and go and came around again.

Weather is more interesting. May have been thunderstorms at the approach end. Microbursts happen quickly and unpredictably (end result: high ground speed, slow airspeed too close to ground).

Still, lots of on-ground and airborne detection systems and pilot training.

I've been in one of these; they're not fun.

Microbursts and straight-line winds can do a lot of damage too.

Energy is lost in microbursts. Don’t give energy and focus to anything or any person that doesn’t earn it.
Everything’s a trade. Don’t spend energy or focus if there's no return.
Withholding energy and focus for only what really matters keeps us centered and ready for what matters.

Dude microbursts are nuts though. They're kind of low-key worse than tornadoes because they show up with zero warning a lot of the time.

I'm so relieved. I know all the critters know how to hunker down, but some of these winds were like microbursts. Yay that you guys were there to supervise and guard. ❤️
