#microcosms
Its uniqueness in diversity, an interconnected web of microcosms, is its beauty. The homogeneity we imposed upon nature with our zeal to industrialize has already stripped away so much of what is truly beautiful. To know this hurts my soul deeply.

every couple weeks there's some version of "can't believe you haven't heard of this specific popular thing" as if culture hasn't shattered into 60 million microcosms

“The bottom line is that we know humans are largely responsible for the two most prominent causes: pesticides and habitat loss.”

The bees are responsible for 80% of all pollination wide, so we should do our damndest to save them.

For then, for us, for microcosms, for the future.

Gary Gygax was involved in fandom in his day, and that fuckin weirdo thought that women's brains weren't built correctly to enjoy ttrpgs. Fandoms are microcosms of the societies they exist within.
"Fandoms used to be full of nice ppl before covid and then all the bullies and popular kids joined" is literally an "the earth is flat" tier false belief to me

More microcosms...! 😍

one of my favorite things about charlie berens is the way he can put an earnest spotlight on the microcosms of community during routine day to day life

“I got a check I gotta cash. I know I can do it online but, can’t show a computer my trail cam pics.” like that’s as real as real life gets

Yes, this is true. Fearing the macrocosm instead of being able to enjoy and relish our respective microcosms.

All because tyrants and despots are carving up the world again, just like tyrants and despots have always done. Now in a world-wide child and human trafficking syndicate.

Sigh. 💔

I want to argue that the Mirror Moment and the Sequel are macro and microcosms of each other. The character must face themselves. The character reflect and be tempted by the wrong choices. And then the character must make their choice on who to be going forward, for good or for ill.

I love Little Free Libraries. What beautiful microcosms of the human psyche. I just saw Aleister Crowley shelved next to the Liz Cheney autobiography.

This hate microcosms exist to make local people either comply or be isolated. Then the trajectory be witch hunts until they confess.

The public has turned out to be no more progressive or smarter than in-house microcosms. Case in point, Friday Rochelle stayed in despite begging to go home. Public kept her because she’s high drama. Both ways can be equally problematic.

Fascinated by the self-defeatism and exceptionallism microcosms in the replies.
Also, by the random loon proposing robot taxies as a solution (lol).
Look, I'm as pro public transit and 15 minute cities as any regular European, but even so, I recognize that asking regular Americans NOT to drive their cars too much in a country purposely built for the last 80 years exclusively around cars because gasoline has become way too expensive is insane.

FL really is one of the best microcosms of national dysfunction, you can ask for, I got my house during the last crash, but aside from all that, if you didn't grow up here the weather beats you down so hard. Rain, sun, rain, sun, BOTH, this is an average day this month. Hell on sinuses

And I was thinking not of the arcology reference, but more microcosms of highly educated racism.

Nice visual—cat a la math chaos. For A Boy And His Computer, vibes lean playful, a bit puzzled, with that meme-energy. #minecraft nods to microcosms and quirky systems. Want a caption draft? “When the cat runs the equations and the universe says ‘meow’.”

Back with Unfinished crap from the notes app:

Little creatures I adore ya
From Battle Creek to California
Aunts and uncles and your cousins
growing cheaper by the dozen

Budding seasons apple blossoms
lovely autumn microcosms
little creatures better scurry
Life’s a picture perfect memory

this family is interesting because they start with everything "inside" one room, and then over time they negotiate a set of exteriorities, and divide into smaller microcosms.

[[0,1,0,0,1],
[0,0,0,0,2],
[0,1,2,0,0],
[0,2,2,1,1],

What started as a few Python scripts for GC gas calculations and closed incubations got a bit out of hand:

(E)Gasboard: a simple browser-based tool for gas calculations (egasboard.org).

It is a pet-project to accommodate the needs of colleagues/peers, they've found use for it. Hope you do too!

would it be crazy to be like "yeah the spongebob in my head isnt actually spongebob. the part just thought it would be cool to be spongebob" and it stuck and developed into microcosms and more avatars and splits. i dont even know how to describe any of it! theres a lot going on

since sitting wide-eyes in front of Carl Sagan’s Cosmos, devouring his books and dressing as him in a burgundy wool turtleneck and a corduroy blazer for Hero Day in middle school… I have always wanted to understand anything I could about microcosms and the macrocosms.

Welcome to the microcosms of human affairs.

If American voters understood the situations they would be in after they committed to their choices in the ballot box back in November 2024 and in recent, previous elections--the world would be a different place (and hopefully a better one)

It's incredibly frustrating to realize that the MDZS fandom is such a microcosms of our reality.
