Someone needs to tell OP about microtones.

Love the microtones and the odd time signatures. There's always something surprising and humourous about their music. It keeps the listeners on their toes.

i really like the microtones on this song. really really underrated song AND album (at least by popular music terms i guess. And even then if we're talking like ... among TMBG fans Dog has an 8.31 on the wiki and i would have rated it higher so i Think it's underrated !)

Had a great time performing at the library! This was my simple microtonal guitar and electronics set up. #experimentalmusic

The bagpipes are a declaration of war in their own right.

Also they don't play nice with other instruments - the scale a traditional bagpipe is tuned to is a few microtones off from our regular scales. So your marching band has to be all bagpipes.

Himself wont let me play Angine de Poitrine in the house because unusual time signatures and microtones give him anxiety.

How come I hadn't heard of Gloria Coates before even though I actively seek out composing women? What a fascinating piece this is. The strings are tuned into a Chinese scale at first and in the 3rd movement they are retuned back into their normal state. And it's all spooky glissandi and microtones.

It's not at all "unexpected". Most people with musical training know that the pentatonic is at the heart of American folk and blues traditions as well as traditional Chinese music. And they both rely heavily on microtones and rhythm to add color and variation. Another pair: flamenco and metal.

i wish it was easier to set up microtones on keyboards, arabic maqamat are so cool to study

Oh gods and don't even get me started on the sheer amount of orientalism in microtonal spaces. I love microtones but the amount of bullshit on the Xenharmonic Wiki and other such communities is astounding.

2 years in the hydrogenates made you a fucking microtones!

Why has a couple of guys dressing in duvet covers and playing microtones got everyone jizzzing themselves? Frankly I think they're a bit shit.

"結び目の音楽"シリーズの4曲目

音楽の断片を繋ぐ糸が交差する隙間から、互いに干渉しあう光と影を浮かびあがらせる実験の4番目

音の結界を際立たせるため、この曲では平均律と不均等な微分音スケールを並立して用いている

One of their 'portal' openers, it acts like an overture and delivers you into the sometimes overwhelming world of Oranges and Lemons. It's not by design but it always reminds me of the opener to Around the World in a Day by Prince: the exotic percussion, the arabic scales, the microtones. #XTCMusic

Angine de Poitrine is not from Montréal. Theyre from Chicoutami, which is a way cooler thing than their use of microtones.

The best thing about Angine de Poitrine is how they write songs pushing the envelope of “live looping.” They work extra hard to make sure their songs aren’t just someone layering shit for 3 minutes & then playing over it. Take away the costumes, story, microtones.. it’s still just well written music
