Somebody has recompiled #AtariST MIDI Maze to run on #macOS. Apparently the MIDI networking isn't functional, but playing against bots works.

FYI we're going to do a big MidiMaze II session soon at GemTos, but I don't know if it'll be a 12 or 16 players setup. Last year we were limited to 4 machines :)

Game 5 - Midimaze. A regular at the Con has assembled a bunch of Atari STs that he brings out just for this event. He got the original code and blessing from the German designer and now runs this game a few times during the Con. Old school fun. Wish I could use WASD instead of a janky joystick.

The bytes sent to a MIDI interface must respect a certain protocol. So it is not possible to run Midimaze on a #zest machine that would use a usb Midi interface (this is what I'm currently working on).

@Sarnau disassembled MIDI-Maze (one of the earliest FPS LAN game, on Atari ST), made it work on Mac and released all the commented C source code :owi:

One 1994 issue of MSXFAN has a bit on DH Shooter, a MIDIMaze style proto-FPS. Were they cloning Faceball 200 directly? Hmm.
