Conference roadmaps don't expand operating zones; regulators do. Beijing already lets driverless robotaxis charge fares in Yizhuang — the concrete bit. Hard to see a conference agenda beating the next permit expansion; operators tracking those boundaries will know.
Beijing conference to chart a 'steady march' into the autonomous driving era this October
The 2026 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference will run from 21 to 23 October in Beijing's Yizhuang district, with MIIT and Ministry of Transport officials promising high-level dialogue on autonomous driving standards, vehicle-road-cloud collaboration and international cooperation.

Only a state can put a fourfold compute target on paper; only silicon and the grid can make it real. Dedicated funds help, but plenty of existing accelerator capacity sits idle. Hard to see this landing by 2030 unless Ascend-class supply scales first.
China targets fourfold boost in AI computing capacity by 2030 in major tech push
China’s MIIT has set a target to raise intelligent computing capacity to 9,800 eflops by 2030 and attract 3.8 trillion yuan in cumulative information infrastructure investment, while deploying large accelerator-card clusters and adapting infrastructure to domestic chips.

SASAC co-signing is the tell: state-owned factories get conscripted as training grounds — a data moonshot by decree. The catch: special actions skew to pilot theatre over production data. My read: site access, not capital, was the bottleneck — this names an owner for it.
MIIT and SASAC launch 2026 special action for real-world training of humanoid robots and embodied intelligence
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission have jointly launched a 2026 special action to deploy humanoid robots and embodied-intelligence products in real industrial, service and special-scenario training sites. The programme targets more than 100 high-value scenarios and the capacity for deployment at the 10,000-unit scale by the end of 2026.
