I genuinely can’t get enough of this film. It’s one of the very first films I can remember being both scared of and fascinated by. The technical aspects of getting these shots are awe inspiring. Milicent Patrick’s creature design? Perfect ❤️

Creature features are my favourite horror movies & I'm working on a creature feature script of my own, but it's impossible to work on this & not think about one of the most iconic cinematic beasties, the Gill-man, created by the magnificent Milicent Patrick.

It contained the usual excellent insights of #GuillermodelTorro, #JoeDante, #PhilTippett, #ChrisWalas and #MattWinston to name but a few. Was slightly annoyed that the film didn't mention #MilicentPatrick who designed The Creature From The Black Lagoon.

Today we celebrate the birthday of American actress, makeup artist, special effects designer, and animator Milicent Patrick, born today in 1915. She is best known for being the creator of the head costume for the Gill-man for Creature from the Black Lagoon. #MilicentPatrick

This cover art is fabulous - and the story inside, omfg. I’m both inspired and infuriated. Women deserve better than this. SHE deserved better. #MilicentPatrick #Biography #CreatureArt #CreatureFromTheBlackLagoon #MalloryO’Meara
