The wooden teeth of the Crown Wheel meets the metal Lay Shaft. Oak teeth are quieter, don't make sparks and can be easily replaced. The Lay Shaft powers the hoist and/or dresser (sieve). #woodbridgetidemillmuseum #millengineering #woodbridgetidemill #millengineeringdepartment
