Keep bubbling with turbo fire.
Push any block that's one block wide, there's likely to be something there.
Hit things from below.
Look up what all the items do.
Pay attention.

Do all that, and #MilonsSecretCastle becomes much less daunting.

Random game mini-review: #MilonsSecretCastle #NES, Dev/Pub: #Hudson, JP: 1986, US: 1988

Seriously gets a bad rap. It's not a massive hidden gem, but if you're willing to learn its basic rules, and look up what items do it can be a lot of fun.
Those basic rules are as follows in my next post:

Just finished "Milon's Secret Castle". Can safely say that this game is not easy. The top floor of the castle are full of monsters that take several hits to kill. Despite the difficulty, this game is still good and I still recommend it. #MilonsSecretCastle #迷宮組曲ミロンの大冒険

Apparently, I learned there's a Gameboy port of "Milon's Secret Castle", so I had to try it out. It's basically the NES game, but good lord the framerate is slow & controlling Milon is quite stiff. The graphics are nice, though. #MilonsSecretCastle #迷宮組曲ミロンの大冒険

Started playing "DoReMi Fantasy: Milon no DokiDoki Daibouken", the Japan only sequel to Milon's Secret Castle. For a very late Super Famicom game, it plays really well and the soundtrack is pretty good & whimsical albeit a bit monotone. #DoReMiFantasy #MilonsSecretCastle

Ep 55 released today! The hosts burst everyone's bubbles about Milon's Secret Castle (Hudson Soft, 1986, NES / Game Boy) #gaming #podcast #metroidvania #searchaction #videogames #milonsSecretCastle youtu.be/AYkTmX6QKJY

Finally beat the Gameboy port of "Milon's Secret Castle". This port is slightly easier, but there are some slowdowns in gameplay. The ending is much better than the NES port visual-wise, though. Overall, it's a neat port IMHO. #MilonsSecretCastle #迷宮組曲ミロンの大冒険

Playing some "Milon's Secret Castle". It's an okay game, but you need some wits & a guide to know what you are doing in order to progress. Obviously I discovered this game through AVGN first several years ago, but I am liking it so far. #MilonsSecretCastle #迷宮組曲ミロンの大冒険
