#misidentifyinglichens
One thing that took me off guard was the intense colour change in the hymenium of my suspected Tephromela atra #lichen after K (from brown to violet). Have not found this anywhere (but the photos of F. Schumm on lichenportal show the same colour). Am I #misidentifyinglichens?

I put some of my #lichen images on a website. For the future I plan on also expanding the #misidentifyinglichens section with discussions on things that were tricky and non intuitive and led me into the wrong direction.

Maybe this is of interest for some of you. What else would you like to see?

so I think I might have to file this under #misidentifyinglichens and put additional thought into it.

After consulting my pictures I would exclude stray degenerate perithecia from the Placidium which are also contained in the sample.

Goodnight with a mess of paraphyses, spores and thoughts. #lichen #misidentifyinglichens. No leads on this one and still work to do. Thoughts are as cloudy as the epihymenium.

Does "birefringent spores" give any lead?*

*a more stringent description will follow.

Last #lichen for today. Indistinct thallus with lecideine apothecia and pigmented, 2-celled spores. All spot tests negative. I+ blue upper hymenium, I- rest (incl. medulla). Key brings me to Amandinea punctata. Will have to think about this. #misidentifyinglichens.

When keying out I arrive either at R. milvina (alpine, lost in germany). Another detour led me to Rinodinella controversa (i like controversa, but this is a southern species (italy!) not found in germany...)

This clearly requires further thought. Good night!

A tough nut to crack. #lichen #misidentifyinglichens
A crustose lichen green with black apothecia. It keys out to genus Rinodina which seems fitting for me, but then the complications begin.

(Chemistry is all negative except a very dubious K faint yellow????)
