In the mistral community the view of US AI companies is not better than that of Chinese providers. People routinely cite EU data protection as a reason for using the still somewhat inferior EU offerings. It's also why I now pay OpenAI $25 a month and Mistral 240 euro a month :)
The U.S. needs strict, enforced regulations on tech, user data, and privacy - at least in line with the other wealthy democracies we like to compare ourselves to.
Until then, more and more Americans are going to conclude Silicon Valley tech is just as dangerous to their own interests as China’s is.
