There are plenty of brown Métis out there looking all Native - and I'm definitely not one of them. But there are also plenty of FNs who are constantly getting ragged on for looking white. Mixedness does not define the Métis and also it's reaaaaly dangerous to start equating mixedness to "less NDN".

And it’s not even a stretch. It not only makes the otherwise-weird Hebrew very straightforward but it also aligns with both Leviticus’ concerns about mixedness and longstanding concerns with establishing paternity in a patriarchal society.
The “prohibition on gay sex” in Leviticus can be read quite easily and grammatically as prohibiting spitroasting (or, more generally, MMF threesomes).

Folks consistently equating Métis to whiteness and "more mixedness" than other Indigenous folks clearly haven't met many Métis and/or are in deep denial about how mixed other Indigenous folks are.

Métis and Mestizo are not "the same terms just in different languages." In Canada at least, there is a specific legal, constitutional meaning for Métis, as one of 3 administrative categories of Indigenous Peoples, that does not rest on mixedness but rather Peoplehood.

I get mad and loud about it because people LOVE to use my mixedness to draw insane conclusions - they think filipino-spanish means 'lingering racist colonial elite' when in reality 1. Like a fifth of the country has a decent degree of Spanish admixture and 2. my experience is more Spanish diaspora

When i deal with bi-rascals and they start talking crazy….all i remind them is that this olive skin you have automatically makes you nigga adjacent. White ppl not gonna give a damn about the shit you’re chatting bout when you DON’T look white.
This is the second time that somebody on the show had to remind him that he would to be on the Black side. He is Egyptian, born in Egypt. He is an African. White people are not looking at him as a fellow white. Anything not white in America is given a version of the Black treatment by default.

I had a phase in middle/high school where I consistently chose “other” because the monoracial categories available to me bore little resemblance to my identity as a multiracial person.
I could recite my component parts, but they’re far less salient to my experience than the mixedness itself.

I’ve sometimes toyed with choosing “white” on such forms just to see what might happen. But there is no need. No one would believe me. My inheritance of whiteness was immediately confiscated by miscegenation.

Very blessed to have a brown Chicano man like my Papas who is totally normal about my Nativeness and mixedness (white men can be very weird, esp if they have Wild West fantasies). He's even protectively warned me to avoid telling white Mormon men about my polygamous heritage bc they will be weird.
