After a few nights of reading through thousands of pages of PRMs I have finally implemented a modesetting driver for Intel HD graphics on Redox OS: gitlab.redox-os.org/redox-os/bas.... There is much more to do, but there is now a clear path to native hardware accelerated graphics!

Today, the Sun reaches its turning point and sets the schedule for the #XLibre 25.2 series beta. In 25.2.0 we fixed DRI 1.4 detection, improved the Nvidia support, Kdrive X servers, modesetting, and more. Please see the changelog at github.com/X11Libre/xse...

お返事もらえた。modesettingドライバを使うのではなくintelドライバを使うか、modesettingドライバならSWCursorを有効にせよ、だそうだ。あとで試してみよう。

Today, Nov 20, 2025, we released version 25.0.0.16 of the #XLibre Xserver. This brings you configuration-free support of the proprietary #Nvidia driver. No more "ServerFlags" "IgnoreABI" needed. Read more about this release at github.com/X11Libre/xse... .
OpenBSD has ports of the apldcp(4) (Display Co-processor) and apldrm(4) drivers from Asahi Linux, which handles basic modesetting, HDMI, brightness control, etc. But there's no GPU acceleration, so things like desktop compositing and 3D are a bit slow, especially at 2560x1600 resolution. (1/2)

we *never* would've figured that one out with hours of googling. so it's nice that they really do help you out on those forums. can recommend. now I really hope our game crashes have been fixed by fixing this modesetting issue. if so I'm gonna be so happy.

Well, this didn't last long. I updated the kernel and now the Nouveau kernel module locks up the whole machine on boot unless I disable modesetting (which of course means no X11). Happens on any kernel from 6.12.68 onwards. Maybe I'll try NetBSD for giggles?
Guess I haven't posted anything in a while. I'll just say it's because I've been waiting for this to compile. /s
