Cleaning over at Montrose Beach for @katmabu.bsky.social - two lovely exchanges:

A lady thanked me, glad people were taking care of the place.

A new volunteer told me he was motivated by the campaign's call to help the community.

A Piping Plover chick from last Sunday! I believe this is Ferris, though I’m not positive.

They were all over Montrose Beach looking for breakfast in the sand.

Thanks for the kind words! I’m very proud of this one - it isn’t currently listed on my Etsy, but I’d be happy to remake it if there’s interest - DM me for details. Love these little beauties, it was a joy to honor them this way.

Love my #delightbox portrait of baby Sea Rocket, Prickly Pear & Wild Indigo by @timkocher.bsky.social. It commemorates our visit to #MontroseBeach on 7/21/23 to see the captive #pipingplover chicks from NY after their release in #Chicago 🥰 @chicagopiping.bsky.social #endangeredspecies #sunlightbox
Lightbox made with layered white and black paper in a wood frame up against a sunny window. The image is of three young piping plovers on a sandy beach. The one in the center is reflected in a puddle of water. Overturned boats, buildings, a lifeguard tower, people having fun and the waves of Lake Michigan can be seen n the background. The blue sky and clouds are visible through the open back along with the surrounding trees. Monty and Rose forever! Here’s a portrait I made of their kid Imani, along with two others, in 2023. We had a beautiful day visiting them that summer. Grateful to live in a city that values them! #pipingplovers #chicagopipingplovers #montyandrose #birdconservation #endangeredspecies #montrosebeach
A portrait of three piping plovers on Montrose Beach. Chicago’s skyline is visible in the background. They are tiny birds, the foremost of which is reflected in a tide pool. The portrait is made of cut paper layers in a wooden case. It is displayed on a windowsill with a blue sky behind it. The moon is just visible above the buildings.

Photograph of Lake Michigan from the vantage of Montrose Harbor Beacon in Chicago, facing southwest. The curve of the concrete walkway extends out from the foreground. The water is calm and the sky is filled with smooth, wispy clouds. In the far distance to the left of the image, the iconic downtown city skyline of Chicago can be seen. Photo taken by the author. Photograph of Lake Michigan as seen facing south from the vantage of Montrose Harbor Beacon in Chicago. Most of the view is of the lakewater amid a hazy, partially clouded sky. In the center of the image and off in the distance, the iconic downtown city skyline of Chicago can be seen. Photo taken by the author.
