He had the Melkor/Morgoth divide right there!

The Balrogs were not pushed into anything lol they were deceived by Morgoth to rebel against Illuvatar
November 3, 2026 at 1:01 AM
And then Tolkien went “YOINK!” while writing the Silmarillion, so the Balrogs are Maiar who sided with Morgoth.
November 3, 2026 at 3:31 AM
Wow do they have Balrogs wrong. Morgoth would be amused.
November 3, 2026 at 12:26 AM
well morgoth bauglir was pushed too far by the other Valar. See, Morgoth wanted to control the Flame Imperishable, but Illuvatar wouldn't just let him do whatever he wanted, and therefore that justifies Morgoth trying to ruin the world out of petty spite
November 3, 2026 at 1:41 AM
What's especially goofy is the comparison would work with Morgoth or Sauron!
November 3, 2026 at 12:27 AM
Si Sauron se présente, il lui arrivera ce qui est arrivé à Morgoth
I wish the pumpkin had never come to me

We know from the Silmarillion that they're also Maiar. Fallen angel parallels with Morgoth as Satan.
November 3, 2026 at 3:24 AM
the wrong that was done to Morgoth, Sauron, the Balrogs, etc, was that Morgoth didn't get everything he wanted (total dominion over the material world) and as a result Morgoth had a tantrum and decided to ruin the world, and this inspired a bunch of petty but powerful assholes like Sauron
November 3, 2026 at 3:57 AM
The Balrogs were demon servants of Morgoth from the beginning. What the hell is he talking about?
November 3, 2026 at 2:45 AM
Ilmarë, Melian, Arlen, and Uinen showed no interest at all in them, so what else could they do but grab whips and follow Morgoth?
November 3, 2026 at 3:07 AM
Morgoth and the maiar who followed him were explicitly motivated not by anything that was done to them, but because they were denied absolute power. Morgoth wanted the power to create life, was denied it, and pitched a tantrum trying to ruin the world. Balrogs, Sauron, etc, decided to follow him.

Happy Halloween com piadinhas de Tolkien! 👻🎃🦇

AKSHUALLY the Balrogs were corrupted by Morgoth BEFORE fleeing into the pits
November 3, 2026 at 9:57 AM
Also aren't the Balrogs fallen Maiar who sided with Morgoth at the start? They're not downtrodden people with tragic backstories, they just woke up at the beginning of the world and chose Wizard Fascism.
November 3, 2026 at 1:44 AM
honestly i see why they see themselves reflected in Morgoth and his minions
November 3, 2026 at 4:04 AM
Also, wtf, Balrogs were never misunderstood. They were ride or die for for Morgoth since he was going by Melkor.
November 3, 2026 at 1:05 PM
Morgoth (satan) specifically made them to spite Eru (god). Theyre litterally inherently evil lol
November 3, 2026 at 2:12 PM
It’s like we’re not even asking why morgoth was evil (booted from Maine elections due to allegations)
November 3, 2026 at 2:19 PM
Balrogs weren't pushed into the abyss, they were Maiar who chose to follow Morgoth and were thus corrupted by evil you n00b dork. (Also there's more than one.)
man some people really took that Little Mermaid casting hard
November 3, 2026 at 12:32 AM
The Balrog? Surely he means Morgoth.

As I understand, Sauron made the ring because his old boss, Morgoth, declined in power over time. And Morgoth, or Melkor as he was known, is responsible for evil existing at all.
November 3, 2026 at 3:25 AM
You're right, it isn't true. They were corrupted by Morgoth. My bad.
November 3, 2026 at 4:52 PM
i guess "corrupted by morgoth" is open to interpretation, i guess women are morgoth now. every day we sink lower into tolkien's unwritten sequel
November 3, 2026 at 1:26 PM
The comparison doesn't even make sense though? Balrogs are literally created evil by Morgoth
man some people really took that Little Mermaid casting hard
