American articles are like “mortalities at the fascist murder factory unusually high? It could be caused by employees listening to music.”
The answer is no. There is no way that smartphones are responsible for a 40% decline in worldwide fertility rate. This is what the graph looks like from 1970 to the present (from @ourworldindata.org).

A lot of times, life expectancy in earlier periods is heavily skewed downwards because it factors in infant and child mortalities - which were very high prior to vaccines and sanitation reforms. If a person survived childhood, however, they could live to a reasonable old age.

#sturgeonsaturday! 🧪👩🏻‍🔬🌎🌐

not only are the sturgeon in the Nechako river facing no babies, the last few years there have been unexplained mortality events in the large adults 😩 (typically at the end of summer)

Im investigating what may be causing these mortalities and the role of climate warming 🧐

This is particularly upsetting news because this outbreak is around ~500 individuals and 3 mortalities makes this CFR about 5-6x what it should be (0.1%).

So, not vaccinating, then when they get sick, my bet is they're avoiding medical care, making this CFR shockingly high.
So far there have been three measles deaths in under six weeks in the ongoing US measles outbreak.

Prior to this year there had only been three measles deaths in the United States in total in the entire last thirty years.
Third measles death
This is not normal. For three reasons.

Topical book for the weekend: in 1995, three consecutive days in Chicago w/ a triple-digit heat index — peaking at 126 degrees! — caused 465 heat-related mortalities, and 739 excess deaths. Emergency services were completely overwhelmed, and many victims were older and died alone.
