It'd be a dead end at this point, between NJT's lack of success with them and its fleet standardization push. The current hybrid motorcoaches are 2016 models and at present no more than 11 of the 37 of them are operable, far less by percentage than the CNG and diesel ones of similar age.

I've never seen another which I've always felt was weird given how much luxury motorcoaches are a thing now. This one had to have been several hundred Gs

NJT has ordered some, to disappointing results. Pilot orders of hybrid transit buses and motorcoaches in the early '00s never resulted in actual orders, and the only significant order of them (courtesy of some grant money) has largely been pulled from service early due to chronic mechanical issues.

This is about high-floor transit buses, not motorcoaches. Most agencies (and virtually every private bus line) still buy standard motorcoaches; high-floor transit buses haven't been ordered in any significant number in NA since at least 2010.

The SR.N4 had a capacity of 60 cars or equivalent motorcoaches, and 400 people, so I'm confident that a fleet of them each carrying a cybertruck with a barrel of oil in the tub as suggested elsewhere would be more than feasible.

A less noticable change from the statistics was a significant redistribution of equipment from 2022-2024. Motorcoaches were pulled entirely from Market Street and Fairview garages and sent elsewhere, meaning that the largely urban routes based there are now run with more suitable equipment.

The existing Oradell garage floods during storms and was not built to hold modern 45' motorcoaches. Without new garage space NJT would have had to cut service to fit the longer buses, and Rockland Coaches had just vacated Westwood when this became an immediate issue in 2022.

The US and UK tourists and ex-pats trying to leave the Gulf may have to do so by way of overland caravans of trucks, cars, or motorcoaches. On my next podcast we'll discuss the irony of this as the word "caravan" comes from the Persian کاروان "kârvân".
