Sealed Cargo is the only movie I had seen before. I found BP to not be the classic others say it is. S5 was a mind & time bending trip, but what was the point? Finally, PHM was quite good. A sci-fi movie that had iffy sci, but plenty of fi.

I’ve seen them all before and the ratings speak for themselves. Obviously, Ex_Machina is the most frightening film out there. Well, we’ve been warned.

2 I’ve seen before, 2 I hadn’t. But, sadly, all were only okay. I will say that Robinson’s performance in Two Seconds was brilliant. You should watch it for that alone. Hope you all had a great week of watching movies!

Movie posters for: Man Hunt, illustrations of stars George Sanders, Walter Pidgeon, and Joan Bennet. Two Seconds, illustration of Edward G Robinson. The Gay Divorcee, illustrations of Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. His Kind of Woman, Jane Russell and Robert Mitchum.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched I began & ended the week with a western. Winchester ‘73 (not shown here) and Stagecoach. Miyazaki thrown in there of course. Most recent version of WD was very good. Fab voice work by UK & Irish actors. Less said about Spectral the better. Junk.

#moviesareswell
Movie posters: Stagecoach with a team of horses leading a stagecoach; Spectral, a soldier covered in metal gear carrying a machine gun; Watership Down, a group of rabbits on a hill; The Boy and The Heron, drawing of boy with partially shaved head glancing behind him.

The Wolf Man was atmospheric fun, but not scary; Wolfs was good, great performances all around, especially from Austin Abrams; The Far Country had Jimmy and great Canadian scenery. Less said about Frozen Empire the better. #moviesareswell

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched I hadn’t watched Hair in over 40 years. Around the same time I had a lot of hair. I still have the album of the original cast recording of the stage version. Good times. 2 of the other movies speak for themselves. Sisu, OTOH, is atrociously stupid. #moviesareswell
Movie posters; Sisu Road To Revenge, guy with machine guns stands atop the tail section of a crashed airplane; Thor: Ragnarok, Thor and The Hulk in some sort of multicolored design (sorry, I can’t figure it out); Spirited Away, young girl with brown hair and wearing red clothing looks over her shoulder; Hair, stylized drawing of hippies dancing for joy.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Although TC was set in England in 1916, during WWI, all the clothes seemed new & fresh. Godspell is as close to religion as I get; EFNY just not that good, stiff dialogue, meh action. MBC first time watch for me. Wonderful. RIP Sam.
#moviesareswell

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched What’s this, you say! Only 3 movies watched this week? Yes Jung_E is a holdover from last week. My opinion on The Godfather hasn’t changed one bit since I first saw it in 1973! On the other hand TB isn’t as good as younger Lee thought it was.
#moviesareswell
Movie posters. Time Bandits, old sailing ship passing an island; The Wind Rises, a man kisses a woman stand by an easel painting the scenery; The Godfather, Marlon Brando wearing a tux and holding a cat; Jung_E, robot warrior.

2 movies, 2 docs. Scorsese is brilliant, as is its subject. Del Toro is one weird dude. Had not seen Gorky Park in decades; very very good. Had never seen 12 Monkeys, and I liked it.
Hope you had a fab week of film viewing! #moviesareswell

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched I did a theme week! So damn hot here this past week I watched movies where hot weather played a role. The sweatiest, filthiest and fly-infested of the four was, obviously, The Proposition. I took a shower after watching it! #moviesareswell
Movie posters: The Proposition showing stars Guy Pearce & Danny Huston pointing pistols in opposite directions. A Passage To India with a photo of an elephant leading a tourist excursion over brownish rocks; the caravan is seen from a distance. Mogambo with a painting of its 3 stars, Ava Gardner, Clark Gable, and Grace Kelly. A varied week to say the least. Seriously, watch The Outrun. Ronan is brilliant as a self destructive addict. You’ll dislike her at first but then be rooting for her. You’ll be pulled into her story and wish you could help. #SaoirseRonan #moviesareswell

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched AF is a Hawks pure flag waving propaganda film. Love it. Diane & Woody in their 8th & last movie, some great LOL moments; Robin Hood is great enough but the Bugs Bunny & Daffy Duck cartoons on the Blu-ray are fab! I’d skip rocks with Amelie anytime. #moviesareswell

Started the week by watching The Gorge. Loved Anya, the movie is 🫤. Conclave & Flow are top notch, GITM not so much. TWR was visually stunning but the script seemed like a knockoff of The Iron Giant. #MoviesAreSwell 🍿🍿🍿
Movie posters: Flow, a wide eyed black cat floats in water; The Wild Robot, closeup of a round eyed robot staring out from behind tree branches; Conclave, Ralph Fiennes staring down with a cross backdrop, he’s wearing a red and black cassock; Ghost In The Shell, closeup of the heroine’s face, she has white hair and blue eyes.

First time viewing of this movie tonight. Story is so-so, but special effects are top notch. Mary Astor is underutilized. Raymond Massey is very good as an over officious jerk. Dorothy Lamour is scrumptious. 3 & 1/2 stars. #moviesareswell
