I can't tell you how excited I am to be setting up an old laptop with a copy of Office 2021 so that I can continue to access 10 years of work and hundreds of files when @microsoft.com decides to kill MSPublisher for Office 365 users later this year!

Microsoft Publisher - which many churches use for producing communications - will be retired in October 2026.

Here’s what your church needs to know, how to prepare and some options you might consider using instead.

I'm looking for a replacement for MS Publisher. It has been my go-to application for anything that needs a detailed layout for printed materials (e.g., posters, flyers, business cards).

What are you using for print layouts?

I wanted to do self printing to cut costs and... well... its a lot of trial and error.

Scribus is impossible to use for some reason. Makes me miss MSPublisher.

I'm using Libre Office 💀

Yeah I'm bad. I know.

Will probably also sell PDFs for $1 since printing is very messy so far.

Learning mspublisher, excel, docs helped me work in an office. Learning basic data stuff in microsoft access helped me get the first job that paid at minimum wage (whereas I was on about half min wage previously, cash in hand). Life changing money.

MSPublisher is weird. More powerful than PagePlus in some limited ways but less in most & quite user-unfriendly under a veneer of simplicity

So Microsoft is apparently ending support for MSPublisher. I'm furious, but more concerned with finding an alternative (and starting the process of moving over as much as I can before it fully dies). Any suggestions, friends?
