Mercury dragon 💀
Elusive and rarely seen dragon that inhabits volcanic areas such as geothermal springs, geysers, mudpots, and fumarole fields. Their breath is a chemical mixture of corrosive acids and toxic gases that causes serious damage even with indirect contact.

Sound on! 🔊
From geysers and acid pools, to diverse landscapes and wildlife, Yellowstone is a grand spectacle of the natural world. And yet, there's nothing more alluring and than the sight and sound of mudpots. The ASMR-like experience can leave one mesmerized.

Mudpot Monday.
#Yellowstone mudpots are fumaroles drowned in surface moisture. When that moisture evaporates what’s left are startlingly geometric cracks and crevices. For me their texture is definitely part of the magic of mudpots!

#parkchat mudpots have always been my favorite, from the time I was a tiny tot, right up to now. I’d could sit and watch a field of mudpots for hours!

Mudpot Monday.
The Imperial Mudpots in the small but impressive Imperial thermal area in the #Yellowstone backcountry. These mudpots are a delight to observe, merrily bubbling away.
You’ve got to hike several miles in order to see these features.

A3 #ParkChat I really enjoyed the mudpots at Lassen Volcanic that were super active due to some geologic activity the day before my mom and I were there. #BlubBlub

Q2 #parkchat The magma in the Yellowstone Caldera System drives the thermal features visitors come from around the world to observe. Geyser, hot springs, fumaroles, or mudpots - what’s your favorite thermal feature and/or type?

A4 #parkchat. The sound of mudpots is the soundtrack I most love to hear. Followed very closely by wind through the pines.

…it’s just another mudpot Monday…whoa-oh…🎶
Mudpots are amazing. They’re fun to watch, fun to listen to and fun to smell (hmm, well, okay maybe smelling hydrogen sulfide gas isn’t everyone’s idea of fun).
But really, #Yellowstone ’s mudpots are amazing!
