One of the primary tools we use to predict flash floods is the NSSL's Multi-Radar/Multi-Sensor System. "I’ve zero doubt NWS forecasters were leveraging that tool that evening to issue flash flood warnings. NSSL and associated projects are slated for elimination in NOAA’s proposed 2026 budget."

When disasters strike, the POTUS can view real-time, high-resolution, multi-sensor imagery of the disaster from the WH Situation Room that provides them with more detail than if they were flying over in a helicopter. When POTUS visits a disaster, it takes up resources and money. So why still do it?

The US is pouring billions into a space based radar and multi-sensor system of dozens if not hundreds of small satellites (which is what China has done covering it’s territory and all of the Pacific, but in combination with AEW, and it was never intended to look for drones).
