#multirepo
monorepo vs. multirepo is solely a question of boundaries in how code is stored and what systems should enforce those boundaries

which is why the vast majority of people talking about it instead talk about completely unrelated things like "review" or "friction" or "merge queues"

My experience and from talking with others monorepo is better. My agent is much more likely to seek out the source of truth in the monorepo vs making assumptions or hallucinating in multirepo from talking to others.

Not exactly the same use case but I often feel like I would love my llm to be aware of several projects at once (eg multirepo architectures)

Then there are multirepo integration steps and test suites or a test-in-production approach (like canarying at Google).

Also monorepos are rare exception. In a multirepo setting, the commit step only affects a single service and not the whole stack, so the post-commit tests are more like presubmit ones in a monorepo - they are quick. I've seen repos split specifically to enable quick CI.

Faros AI: 22,000 devs, 4,000 teams — median PR review time up 441% since coding agents took off. PRs merged unread: up 31%. When agents open PRs across 20 repos overnight, scattered dashboards make the problem worse. #CodeReview #MultiRepo

GitHub Copilot code review just entered Azure Repos preview (June 2026). AI review is going cross-provider. The next unsolved problem: seeing all your PRs — across every repo, every provider — in one place. #CodeReview #MultiRepo

Anthropic's Claude Code now supports nested sub-agents (5 levels deep). Combined with the stat that 78% of sessions already involve multi-file edits, your AI is touching repos you forgot it could reach. PR visibility across that surface is the real challenge. #MultiRepo #AICode

HN's AI dev workflow thread this week surfaced a real tension: AI generates code faster, but multi-repo review context is getting harder, not easier. Seeing all your PRs at once isn't a luxury — it's how you stay in control. #CodeReview #MultiRepo

GitHub's take this week: AI agents write the code, but reviewing it is the new bottleneck. When agents are opening PRs across dozens of repos, you need org-wide visibility — not more browser tabs. #CodeReview #MultiRepo

CVE-2026-24686 - go-tuf Path Traversal in TAP 4 Multirepo Client Allows Arbitrary File Write via Malicious Repository Names
go-tuf is a Go implementation of The Update Framework (TUF). go-tuf's TAP 4 Multirepo Client uses the map file repository name string (`repoName`) as a filesystem path component when selecting the local metadata cache directory.
