Interesting. Bonnie Tyler isn’t the songwriter in this case, so (as things stand) she’d not even earn the minuscule fractions of a penny that Spotify pays out in streaming royalties. Hence this story.

Musicians’ Union is campaigning to change that. Good.

That music is real money though- artists get royalties from their music being played on a grocery store service etc. so it hurts artists if that music becomes ai slop

The Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) now requires artists to declare if AI was used in the creation of a song.

Songs involving AI will not be eligible for copyright registration and if AI use is falsely denied, KOMCA may suspend royalties or remove the work.

This was a bad system all around. The American public got worse music. Musicians' own royalties were eroded by the label accountants' practice of charging off bribes to "promotions" they deducted from artists' royalty statements. Radio stations sucked.
