Fun fact, I'm like two degrees removed from the Musicophilia guy who got struck by lightning and suddenly started playing piano. It's a true story

Long live the old, weird internet. While the original mp3 downloads of the box set have since been replaced at Musicophilia with streaming options, we have uploaded the original files for posterity …

Решила разрисоваться и пофантазировать на счёт обложки "Музыкофилии". Вот маленький кусочек, но тут явно сквозит душком обложек 90х хахаха

I love this man and I love this book. It attempts to explain why music is so importantto humanity, seemingly something that has no physical or corporeal benefit. Fascinating stuff.
A great loss to the world when he died.

Library music is like the dreams we music geeks have of record shops full of amazing LPs you've always wanted and never found... but you won't have to wake up. It's real! A funhouse mirror-world of the mainline history of pop music:

My mom got a tattoo (at age 69) of the Musicophilia "logo". She thinks most of the music I mix is a little too weird, but it makes her think of me and my life-long love of music

I've used Hearthis for the few mixes I've made in recent years, but honestly the effective uselessness of Mixcloud and Hearthis seeming a little jank has heavily influenced the slowing to a crawl of my mix-making

Music, uniquely among the arts, is both completely abstract and profoundly emotional. It has no power to represent anything particular or external, but it has a unique power to express inner states or feelings. Music can pierce the heart directly; it needs no mediation.
