This is one of the two hotels that I think of when I read the part in Neuromancer about Case getting the mycotoxin that cut him off from cyberspace.

We used to ask WebMD if we are dying.. now… we use a “TikTok explainer”… repost if you’re one of the 9% of hypochondriacs who still reads Medline articles convinced you have mycotoxin poisoning

It’s not even that, it’s that this is also a good way to get mycotoxin poisoning.

The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)—aka the “mono” virus—can also trigger Myalgic Encephalomyelitis Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (MECFS) and is a risk factor for Multiple Sclerosis.

COVID-19 infection is one of the things that can trigger the reactivation of EBV (others include mold or mycotoxin exposure).
🦠NEW: Scientists just confirmed that the “Mono” virus can trigger and sustain lupus — something researchers had suspected for decades, but only based on anecdotal evidence.

My story for @sciam.bsky.social 🧪
The Virus That Causes Mono May Also Cause Lupus
Early findings indicate that Epstein-Barr Virus may also cause the autoimmune disease lupus

Brilliant.

- Vitamin A toxicity
- Copper, iron overload
- gout/high uric acid
- high cholesterol
- liver diseases
- accumulated heavy metals, pesticide, mycotoxin, antibiotics

Missed "Automated Sample Preparation for Mycotoxin Analysis"?
Watch the recording here: https://goto.bruker.com/4z86mkO

Kai Zhang (@U.S. Food and Drug Administration) shows how an integrated Chemspeed robotic platform automates sample preparation for single- and multi-mycotoxin LC–MS/MS analysis.
Automated Sample Preparation for Mycotoxin Analysis
Rising interest in robotics for routine food testing reflects the need for higher throughput, reproducibility, and standardization. In many food analysis workflows, sample preparation is the primary bottleneck: it requires repetitive, stepwise tasks - dispensing, extraction, shaking, centrifugation, filtration, and vial handling - that are time-intensive and can introduce variability.

By popular vote, today's Tox Tuesday and Fountain Pen & Ink Poison is T-2 MYCOTOXIN. It has a fascinating history and mechanism of action and is involved in a Cold War conspiracy theory that leads us toward....bee poop. It may be long, so grab some hot cocoa.

I have PMDD, OCD, and a few other things I deal with on a daily basis. Some days I’m completely unable to perform simple tasks, and now with recovering from mycotoxin poisoning, things are moving a lot slower! 😵‍💫
A LOT of us artists lean into our craft not just bc we have an interest, but bc we’re disabled physically or mentally.

A lot of us can’t work. Too impaired to leave the home or uphold work elsewhere.

Please be there for one another. Please water this community.
It’s all we have to keep on.

“The recall is due to a potential contamination of the mycotoxin patulin” is actually one of the first things you see if you read the article lol
