Related -- this is why I stopped being active in NAAFA a couple of years ago. Fat fetishists took over an event, acted like fat people's concerns about this were oppressive, and NAAFA leadership dismissed those concerns when I brought them forward privately to them.
But, asking most often women who are the victims of aggressive fetishization because they dared to exist in a public space to be the first to overlook that harm frequently with the implication of abandonment or censure if they don’t, we don’t need to do that, not ever.
