There it is: TYPES OF PHOTONICS PAPER (2021).

What deserves to be added from the last 3 years?

Great to have Prof Ian Walmsley visit us at Sydney Nano. We are both thinking about similar things: how to create research facilities and places that enable great science and new collaboration. Shared facilities for nanofab, HPC, etc are standard, but how can it work for quantum labs? Any ideas?

2. the "ASI exposed to the open internet exfiltrates itself, bootstraps a nanofab, etc". we dont have ASI and it currently cant do any of that and also isnt in a research flywheel where human researchers are obsolete so that's just... not relevant to 2026 yet. period afaict

Tempted to make a nanofab feed but, as always, not sure if there will be enough of a community

What a terrible loss - Dave was always supportive and inspiring. I mostly interacted with him through his leadership of the nanofab, but more recently we were working to collaborate on research. He will be missed greatly.

Our department (UW-Madison Electrical and Computer Engineering) has two openings in semiconductors and quantum technologies

First, an open-rank (asst/assoc/full) search in quantum engineering, broadly defined, especially in experimental areas that take advantage of our nanofab resources

The hilarious book I'm currently reading. There's also a fascinating story of a nanofab built over indigenous burial site, and shaman fixing a yield issue, let me know if I should post the snapshot of that, too.

They're hoping that by building graphene-based sensors and devising a substrate that DOESN'T trigger the foreign body response (a member of the group is doing some NEAT things with hyaluronic-acid-based gel!)--well. We'll see!
I was on the micro and nanofab side of the project.

This is update #106 to our squad tactics heist RPG; it adds ~300 new items, weapons, weapon mods, and armors through blueprints, a new safehouse room (the NanoFab), and the start of massive late-game potential with the proc-gen system for heisting your way to insanely maxed out gear.

Enjoy!

It reminds me of my friends in a nanofab class telling our professor TSMC then had a 4nm process either in the works or in development (ca. 2015ish) and he had to sit down and look it up during his lecture.
