Another Nuit Blanche has passed in the city of Toronto, and art could be found through several different regions of the city. I visited four of them. This thread will feature some of my highlights of each region in the 2025 edition of the event.

One of many pieces of artwork on the walls. Something about "ENTROPY" here captured my brain. (6/7)

This is a miniature bookshelf, chair & kitty in a massive, wall-sized regular bookshelf. I could have spent an hour just examining everything in that bookshelf—so many cool & funky objects, both expected and unexpected. (3/7)

I had a crack at typing on this electric typewriter. Took me a moment to find the space key. When I was in high school, I went straight from a manual typewriter to an Apple computer, so an electric is even foreign to me. (4/7)

In this second video, the gentle rapidity of said flow picked up like a train leaving a station (so not Metrolinx).
This piece uses real-time sensors to react to wind & temperature data, but you can also shine a light at it to induce change. Control and none. (2/2)

We spent ~4 hours at Nuit Blanche tonight, had a lovely time. My favorite was probably Dead Ringer, not pictured, which explored Toronto's place in film as other places. #NBTO25

Ooh, ooh! I know this one! This time at #NuitBlancheTO, we first saw Ivan Rys’ 𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘥 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘸 at Lumière: The Art of Light this past spring in Trillium Park.
In this first video, I was getting a Star Wars vibe until someone triggered a pattern change to a sunburst ripple. (1/2)

⬆️ From #NuitBlancheTO: “Over the course of 12-hour endurance performance, Cassils uses their body, Morse code and a high-powered beam of light to send a list of words (deemed suspect by US federal agencies) into the sky, shining light on the ubiquitous forces of censorship.” (2/2)

This is 𝘜𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 by Cassils. Sure, I joked that this is what my Mom will sound like after her knee replacement, but I loved both the Morse code and the censorship premise. And it looks steam-punk spectacular. (1/2)
