It went pretty well! Except that I forgot to do the necrology before the Eucharistic prayer so instead we did it after Eucharist. Oh well. God is glorified.

We spend weeks assembling the necrology read at our All Saints' services, a list of those who died in the past year and all the names sent in by parishioners, a precious and poignant annual remembrance. Last fall, I visited my grandparents’ grave and drafted this poem about both sets of my “grands.”

We spend weeks assembling the necrology read at our All Saints' services, a list of those who died in the past year and all the names sent in by parishioners, a precious and poignant annual remembrance. Last fall, I visited my grandparents’ grave and drafted this poem about both sets of my “grands.”
I am saying my first Requiem Mass tomorrow. If there are names of your own beloved departed, for whom you would like to ask for prayers, please feel free to reply or message me their first name. I would be deeply humbled to include them in our necrology, naming them aloud in the Mass intentions.

When ancestor worship is sane and moderate we get good lectures. Not all fossils flow back through last common ancestors. Does that difference make that a necrology instead of a genealogy. Will the weasel, or whales join the snakes in a return the wiggles.
