time to have a conversation about #negativeexternalities
If your business couldn't stay afloat if you had to clean up after yourself enough so you don't poison people's air + groundwater - then it's just possible you do not have a viable business model
I've written about oil industry cleanup liabilities. Look at their argument.

"We would not be able to take on certain wells that are in packages and would be less likely to take risks buying packages..."

Admitting if they have to pay for cleanup, they wouldn't be in this business.

The externalized environmental costs of computation aren't reflected in Microsoft's pricing. Removing CO2 from the air, cooling data center waters, etc. should be paid by those using AI, including medical transcription. Would docs use them if it cost $100 a record? $1000? #negativeexternalities #AI

because I figure even AI haters should be trying to understand how it works, where it fails, what the likely #NegativeExternalities will be.
