Back when OSX was still called Mac OS [number], an entire Fortune 500 corp was brought to a standstill for 2 days because the netadmins had decided to tell the DNS system to trust any machine that used DHCP to advertise itself as the authoritative name server - which OSX did by default at that time

Le marché cherche des SRE aujourd'hui, comme il cherchait des DevOps avant. La réalité c'est que les boîtes ont ainsi perdu l'expertise des sysadmins et netadmins sur des sujets bas niveaux, ça file en tickets support chez les Cloudeurs. Et on ne mentionnera pas la perte de souveraineté/autarcie.

I've put together an online tool for performing MAC address to Vendor OUI lookups. It allows you to lookup up to 500 MAC addresses at once and offers a CSV export function which has I've found other sites missing.

Il y a quelques années que les boîtes se sont mises en quête de DevOps, les sysadmins/netadmins ont du souvent changer de titre pour pouvoir postuler. Puis de même avec le SRE. On pourrait (devrait ?) distinguer entre ceux qui sont sur les couches techniques ou sur les couches fonctionnelles 😉
