#neurosurg
that time in fellowship when my Boston PICU attending got ratted out by a Neurosurg resident to his attending.

She looked directly at the resident and said "so you went and told your daddy on me"

and I died right there
“My attending wants to talk to you”

I've asked all of my neurosurg friends to sever me I have been begging it is getting awkward

Ohboy. Does the neurosurg know what they're getting into by inviting your feedback?

We converted a 36 bed cardiac stepdown unit, plus the neurosurg ICU and neurosurg stepdown units into Covid ICUs. It took our ICU capacity from 26 (16 MICU + 10 NSICU) to ≈80.

We still ran out of covid ICU beds and ventilators in 19 days.

The assgoblin who tried gaslighting us last week is…
We opened an ICU that had been shuttered for well over a decade so that a hospital that has 18 MICU beds could fit 46 patients on ventilators
RFK Jr said these words today on national television

"There were ICUs that were empty all over the country including in New York at the height (of the pandemic)"

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

You are a fucking idiot

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

<sobs silently>

*scanning resume* Sir I'm sorry you're just not qualified to be a neurosurg– wait a minute

In medicine I see this as well.
Pediatrics is currently overwhelmingly female as is OB/Gyn.

Ortho, neurosurg are overwhelmingly male.

Guess where the $$ is?

My mom is still in neurosurg ICU but talking, seeing, walking

Long way to go but feeling incredibly lucky

"'sup nerds" wasn't well received by the neurosurg team either

I should have done that to take our Neurosurg chief’s Aston Martin for a ride

Just accidentally sent THIS to my neurosurg HMO instead of the pic of the patient monitor I was supposed to send. I need to change my name and leave the country 🤦‍♀️

Setback - yesterday mom’s neuro status declined enough that we took her to ER. Unfortunately there is a small area of stroke. In weird spot too but neurosurg said it’s small and should improve with time. She’ll be admitted for a few days then go to acute rehab. Bit of a rollercoaster for everyone 😩

Can you page neurosurg? The guy with the nails who checked out AMA last week is back

As a squeamish layperson who’s nevertheless seen a lot of surgical photos (neurosurg in particular), I find the context-collapse defense here deeply dishonest. Surgical pics are gross but they don’t look like torture. If you’re afraid your images will outrage the public, that’s a confession.

“But won’t get LP and also won’t stop any of cefiderocol, linezolid, metronidazole, ampicillin, acyclovir, amphotericin, voriconazole, foscarnet” because the neurosurg intern said “cont broad IV abx”
March 2, 2026 at 12:29 AM
They already have that at the OR front desk when neurosurg and ortho both have "emergent" add ons.

So grateful for Brandon. I didn’t feel like things were right yesterday. He came over to evaluate her and called neurosurg, which is what pushed us to take her in. Helps having a third party weigh in so you don’t feel like you’re imagining things (especially when they’re also a physician lol)
