Newborn perspective: There’s a lot said about the “dream feed”, but have you heard about the “nightmare feed”? It’s when you instead stay up for two plus hours in the middle of the night until your parent’s spirit is broken and they’re so tired they’re wired #newbornphase #momsky #postpartumjoy

Really feel the limitations of my body this newborn phase. Wish I had better night vision, bigger hands, smaller breasts and a third hand whilst we’re at it. Funny that all of those are equally fanciful wishes! We have to live in the body we’re dealt #newbornphase #momsky

Heading on first “long” trip with 3 month old and 3.8 year old. Only took us 12 hours to pack everything for 3 days! #newbornphase

10.5 weeks old baby! Feel like we’ve come so far from the pure survival mode of the cluster feeding weeks, but I’m still so tired, it’s still hard to get out of the house or accomplish an errand, so it still feels like survival mode but an easier phase of it, if that makes any sense #newbornphase

Fav newborn expressions includes when she looks angry and happy at the same time. Like “I’m crying but I know you’re going to address it, I have you wrapped around my little finger 😏” #newbornphase #newbaby #bossbaby

On the nights the newborn is sleeping well, the toddler has nightmares. Rest is so elusive for mothers! #newbornphase #toddlerphase #momsky

Just when you think the baby is getting easier…no, no they’re not, back to multiple feedings at night and baby wanting to be awake at night! 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 #newbornphase #momsky

Just put my six week old down in her bassinet to sleep, could be anywhere from 5 mins to 4 hours 30 mins now. Who designed the newborn phase? Who designed human life? Who designed life? It’s all so weird #newbornphase #tiredmama

Six weeks into the newborn phase and I’m very much in survival mode. But note: only I am. My “partner” is producing music videos and working on his hobbies. Hard not to have resentment. #newbornphase #momsky

Would warm sheets help a baby fall asleep?! Have I just discovered the new snoo? Going to try this next time…via putting a little sheet in the dryer for a few mins. Wish me luck! #newbornphase

Sometimes you have the kind of blowout situation where you don’t just have to change the baby’s whole outfit, but also the changing table’s whole outfit. Usually in the very early morning 🥱 #newbornphase #momsky #newborn

Love how my toddler refers to his baby sister as “my baby” 🥹. Example: on way to restaurant, says he will ask waiter: “is there a changing table here? because my baby poos a lot”. #toddler #momsky #newbornmom #newbornphase

One of the most frustrating parts of the newborn phase: when you spend 5 taxing minutes putting on an outfit on a fidgety newborn, then you’re like “finally it’s on!” and feeling pleased with yourself and then they spit up all over it and you have to start again 🤦🏾‍♀️🫠 #newbornphase #momsky

The way you get your baby to naturally wake up from a nap that’s running too long: you, the mother, lie down to rest. This works most of the time! 😅 #newbornphase #momsky

Did I over-feed my baby or was she hungry? Should I have burped her or just let her fall asleep whilst nursing? Did I transfer her to the bassinet too early or too late? You can be confident that in the newborn phase, “time will not tell” 😵‍💫 #newbornphase #momsky

When you’re a parent of two kids, you realize what a crapshoot parenting is. I’m the same parent with the same techniques but even as babies they’re so different. I think it’ll be affirmed as they grow that there are fewer cause-effects than parenting books suggest #newbornphase #momsky

Mistakes in the newborn phase cost so much. And that’s when you’re the most tired and make the most mistakes. Who designed this thing called human life? It’s WILD #newbornphase #momsky

Always change babyon the changing table! Never the bed. Had to change all the linen due to blowout 😩 not fun at 3.30 am. Thank God for the mattress protector though #newbornphase #momsky

Humans evolved with tools. I don’t want to sleep on bare rock because some primitive version of human did, I love my pillow. It’s ok to use tools for motherhood too. Do what makes your life easier. It’s called problem-solving, don’t be ashamed. #newbornphase #momsky #hitechmom

Tried to do a cute one month photoshoot with my newborn today. Didn’t go as expected: backdrop sheet wrinkled, baby gassy and crying, rose headband didn’t fit her, spat up all over her outfit and mine, kept knocking over the “one month” sign! I guess I’ll try again next month 😬#newbornphase

Spent nearly half of my baby’s one month Pediatrician appointment talking about my toddler’s many issues, oops 🫠 I never understood when people said their older kid was harder than a baby to deal with, now I do. #momsky #toddlermom #newbornphase

In the thick of #newbornphase and trying to figure out feeding schedule with my husband. His best idea so far: “it would really help if you could become nocturnal”
